PMB signs exclusive antimicrobial masterbatch deal with steritouch
PMB will be focusing attention on its new antimicrobial masterbatch at this year's PDM Show (Hall 3, Stand No D11). The South Wales based masterbatch manufacturer recently signed an exclusive manufacturing agreement with SteriTouch Ltd, allowing PMB to sell and market SteriTouch antimicrobial masterbatch to the plastics industry in the UK and Ireland.
A silver ion based antimicrobial, SteriTouch offers protection for the lifetime of the component. SteriTouch masterbatch has been extensively tested and is highly effective against 'superbugs' such as MRSA, E.Coli and Salmonella. It can be added to natural polymer at normal let down rates or combined with a colourant. Use of the SteriTouch® trademark in product branding is licence-free; help and advice on the correct use of claims language, marketing advice and comprehensive test reports are available direct from SteriTouch.
Commenting on the agreement, PMB Managing Director, Dave Thomas said: "There is a real advantage to our customers in being able to license the SteriTouch brand without a premium cost. With the public increasingly concerned about hygiene, we are expecting demand for the masterbatch to be high."
On behalf of SteriTouch, Director, Nick Corlett said: "We thought long and hard before selecting a masterbatch partner. PMB's vast experience in achieving excellent colour dispersion was a key factor, since thorough dispersion of any antimicrobial is extremely important."
Other products in the SteriTouch range include antimicrobial powder coat and wet paints, additives for silicone rubbers, textile treatments and powder additives for rotomoulding. These products are available direct from SteriTouch along with relevant technical advice and support.
Founded in 1974, PMB (Performance Masterbatches), based in Brynmawr, South Wales, is one of the UK's leading suppliers of masterbatch.
